Explaining more later

Will explain more later........

So Wednesday morning I work up at 5:45 to bring Zane to school.  He slept in til 7 which was amazing because it mean I was able to sleep for an extra half hour or so.  He asked his dad later is I had "slept over" because I looked like I just woke up when I got him up! haha
On the way home it down poured, which soaked me on my bike.  I'm not sure if you can tell the color difference in my clothes, but I was very wet!

Then I jumped on a bus headed for the North Shore.  Stopped at Turtle Bay to check out the sites and the inground pool that is easy to sneak to.   It was a beautiful resort and shit loads of money to stay there.  I prefer to sneak in.  I continued on my journey and made it to Sunset Beach.  I saw the waves from the bus and they were INCREDIBLE!  The beach was caution taped off because you can't even go swimming with the waves so huge.  I continued on to Waimea Beach, which was also caution taped off, but only near the water.  There were butt loads of people on the beach and side walk, so I joined in.  Turned out there was a surf competition where only the best of the best from all over the world join in.  The waves were monstrous, and I managed to catch 2 guys riding a wave in.  Well, they almost made it in.  They started from Wayyyyyy far out because the waves seemed to be rolling for forever.  And the think we were just up there a few weeks ago and were swimming. Watch these super sweet surfers

Then I walked across this really cool bridge

I walked back towards sunset beach because I was hitting starvation mode.  I found this awesome truck that was selling all sorts of delicious treats.  I chose the fresh acai bowl and hoy crap it was amazing.  I can't wait to go back and get 7 more.  Luckily I can afford them with my tips from bartending.  I found this super small secluded beach with a few trees.  I hid in the shade for a long time and read my book.  I also took this video of the waves hitting the rocks in front of me.  I thought they might come far enough to take out this photographer dude in front of me.
Watch these big ass waves   - You might want to turn off the volume because Nate called me just as I was starting the video and I caught our whole conversation :)

I took a 3 freakin hour bus ride back, and then made it home just in time to make mini hamburgers and spaghetti squash, yum.  Went to crossfit straight after - didn't even feel nauseous from just eating - and burned approximately 1,000,000,000,000,000 calories

Thursday I bartended - made the least amount of tips so far, but it was no biggie

At 11 I went for a walk outside and it was just beautiful out.  Little to no clouds in the sky, warm breeze, and peace and quiet.  I could see so many stars! It was incredible and calm. I love being outside at that time of night.  I always do that at home.  I'll make it up to the porch and then just stand outside staring at the stars.  It never feels cold way late at night, even in the winter.  Its something about being in this perfect place with nothing to worry about at that moment.  I always thought I would stay out there so that I wouldn't have to go in and talk to my mom, but I think more of it was just finding peace in those times.  Mary, Nate, and I are hopefully going to hike the Pillboxes tomorrow night so we can watch the stars.  That would be awesome

Super Long Day

Woke up at 5:45 - had a paleo breakfast. Eggs with homemade mayo slathered on and turkey sprinkled on top.
Went surfing with Keysa at Waimanalo and it was awesome.  There was this guy with SUPERPOWERS! He was this old Hawaiian guy who had obviously been surfing his whole life cause he was riding waves that I couldn't even see! And then he would tear past me with his sweet sweet moves and I would ALWAYS be in his way! I stood up once, and it was awesome, but then I immediately fell.
Made it to work at 9 a.m. to babysit Zane.  We (meaning I) decided to go to the beach for the day.  We packed up our back packs and took off for the beach where I enjoyed a paleo lunch (salad with roast beef and cashews on top) and read, and Zane masterminded this incredible town in the sand.  It was equipped with a volcano, house, tunnel, walkways, roads, streams, pool, hot tub, and soccer field.  Good fun.  Only I got burnt, he managed to be fine.  We also played some soccer which was sweet, and I of course had to kick his butt because he thinks he's the shit at soccer.

Came home to Mary, Nate, Bobby, and Brian and we went out to eat at this cool, inexpensive, delicious Mexican Restaurant where I had a paleo dinner.  Shrimp for appetizer - fish with avocados and mango for dinner.
Holy shit paleo is rough.  I don't recommend it for cookie lovers like me.  Or those who are weak!

Its tough living out here in Hawaii and being a Bob's Bartendress

Modeling the sunset

Doing a little Anna Dance at the top

Was I photo shopped in on this one?

Every once in a while you are allowed to show off what you got
Well I've been bad at keeping up with the things I've been doing, but the last two weeks Eric had leave from the Marines so we were able to hang out a lot and do different things. Mary also had off so we got to do some awesome hikes and drink.
Let's do a recap of my week.
Monday - Ran to triangle park with Mary and did 12 minutes of Insanity, Bartended til 6, came home and had dinner with Mary and Nate
Tuesday - Drove to the Leeward side of the island with Eric to Ka'ena Point so we could catch the sunset.  Missed the bulk of the sunset, but got to see awesome Albatross birds.  Camped right on the ocean on a very hard surface.
Wednesday - Woke up early so I could get back in time to shower before work.  Bartended til 6 and then went out to eat at the Shack with Eric.  DELICIOUS burgers.  We ended up getting yogurt icecream with all you can fill up on toppings from YOgurt MAMA afterwards, and then finishing our night up on the beach listening to the waves and the wind.  My bed is so comfy
Thursday - Hiked Kuliouou with Mary which was a 5 mile round trip to the top of a mountain after climbing some rigorous stairs and a dangerous cliff at the top.  Then we got our Great Aloha Run shirts, and I bought some cute dresses for work.  They are not my normal beachy dresses though, more of "I want to make tips" dresses.  I think I did something that night, but for the life of me I can't remember
Friday - Woke up early with Mary and walked the beach for an hour.  We wore our matching "In training" Great Aloha Run shirts.  I put on one of my favorite dresses (the one from the consignment shop in Colorado) with grey tights and my new black and blue asics and went to work.  I clocked in at 10:48 a.m. and clocked out at 10:52.  Long ass day.  As soon as I got off work I pounded a few beers and then Eric dropped me off at home on his motorcycle.
Saturday - woke up in time to join Mary, Keysa, and Ananda for a hike of Olomana.  We made it up to the first peak, and then continued on to the second peak.  I don't have very many pictures of it, but be sure to check my facebook for the album and what has been tagged of me by other people.  We didn't hike to the third peak because it is pretty dangerous and scary, and we were tired.

There was this guy who was high out of his mind, or tripping on something who kept asking us if we were going to hike to the third peak.  It was hilarious because we lost count of how many times he asked us the exact same question.  I got some good quality time with Keysa while we were hiking.  She is super nice and awesome.  We are going to go surfing this Tuesday morning and then she is going to teach me how to cook paleo!  Ananda and I ran down the mountain together and all the way to the car.  It was nice to run with someone who goes my pace! We made it all the way to the car and it felt super great.  I didn't complain at all the whole hike!
We ate at Teddy's Bigger Burgers and I ordered a huge thick milk shake.  I must have drank it too fast because I got super sick and barely made it to the bathroom at home.  I fell asleep for a few hours after that.  Mary finally convinced me to wake up and that no, I had not missed New Years.  Most of you that know me know that I am a truly evil person after I wake up from a nap, so really this was progress that I got up and was able to get dressed.  We went to Keysa's house and drank our faces off.  Then Ananda and I went to town so that Ananda and I could dance with as many boys as possible. Both missions were perfectly executed and accomplished.
Sunday - Oh thats today! I finally pried myself offline at 1:30, so Eric could pick me up.  We went to the Lanikai Beach which is not really too much of a beach on the far south end, so we walked the shallow water until we found a much beachier spot.  That I was in heaven for.  Quiet, walking through the water, just thinking to yourself about whatever you want.  Then we hiked the pillboxes for sunset.  That was fun.  We didn't really get a good sunset because it was so cloudy, but thats ok!

And p.s. I started the 30 day paleo challenge for realz today.  Only Meat, Eggs, Cashews, Veggies, Fruit, and Coconut water for me!

Making yourself into who You want to be

Well Let's just say that 2011 was certainly a year about making myself into a better person.  I traveled more than I ever have before, and started some roots in a few different places.  I certainly think I am a better person now than I was a year ago today.  Especially because at this exact moment last year I was still so hungover in Colorado that I couldn't move out of bed... Luckily Heather was there to take care of me.  I loved this year.  I finished my masters, almost.  I still need to finish the final draft on my paper.  I let my hair grow back out from its very short stint.  I like it longer, I feel much more like a beachy surfer girl. I moved out of Saugerties after I finished in Rochester, and did not move back in with my parents like so many of my peers have.  I saved enough money to be able to live a little before I am stuck in conformity for a long time with small paid vacations but mostly only pay cuts and paper work.I discovered how much I love pilates too.
I met some amazing people in 2011 also.  People that changed my outlook on the world, how I coach sports, my vision on camping in the wilderness, and my perspective on teaching/ how I can make myself better.
Most importantly, I changed how I act towards guys.  Well no, I still act the same TOWARDS them, being the too outgoing type that  I am, but I hopefully changed how I portray myself to them.  I'm not some slutty girl that you can just hook up with! I am a good person! And you need to treat me better.
2011 was more about changing my reactions.  I can't change what  other people do or say, but I can change how I react to it, and by doing that, I can change the outcome of a situation.  Actions and Reactions. I went to some awesome therapy this year at RIT too, she was the bomb digity yo.  I wish I had gone sooner and more often, it was well worth it.
So my goals for this year are this:
1. I am going to stop picking at my face and/or touching it at all! My complexion would be fine if I would stop adding to the grease on my face!  errrrgh
2. I am going to take things slower, and not rush into them
3. I am not going to expect tips, only accept tips
4. I am going to drink my coffee black
5. I am going to get a job as a math teacher and love the shit out of it
6. I am going to get my own apartment
7. I am going to go camping in Utah again
8. I am going to start competing in races
9. I am going to eat paleo at least until February 1st
10. I am going to show my true self to people, not only what I want them to see.

That's a pretty positive list of things I got going there.  I hope I can stick to them. No, I will stick to them!

Yesterday??? YIKES!

Well Mary and I went on an hour long walk on the beach yesterday, accompanied by some push ups.  Then I went to work at the bar... Clocked in at 10:48a.m., clocked out at 10:52 p.m. wowza! Long day.  I chugged Eric's beer as soon as I got off, and then another one.  Yup, I was intoxicated pretty much immediatley.

I need to post about Thursday, and Mary and my adventure to the top of Kuli'o'o :)  I'll figure out the spelling to it later.  We're going to hike Olomana with her friends now, so I will post tons later.  AND I don't have to work tomorrow or anything!  So tonight I will finally find out what down town is like!!!! Sweet!  Lots of Love pre New Year.  I'll do a whole post about that when I get back from the hike.  <3

Me a cleaner? NEVER!

“I soon realized that no journey carries one far unless, as it extends into the world around us, it goes an equal distance into the world within.” – Lillian Smith
Cleaning day...  hahahahaha I wish I enjoyed cleaning.  I'm going to have these ladies on speed dial when I grow up - click me

But at least there were clean dishes :)

Titus and Gizmo were of no help to me today.  Gizmo refuses to sleep anywhere but on Blankie.  He must know how much I love my Blankie!  Ridiculous!
 It begins in 5 days!!!

Mele Kalikimaka Part Dos

So yesterday after Christmas was over with the Sullivan's (at 8:30 a.m.)  Mary, Nate, and I did some gifting, which was awesome.  I had been super pumped about them getting their presents for days!  Eric came and got me at 10:30 and we set out for Bellows beach.  We went to the Air force base because its less crowded and he's a Marine, so we get to do things like that :)
Bellows is a beautiful park with tons of safe camping, mini golf, waves, and beauty.  The surf breaks really close to the shore line, so standing up is pretty silly, unless you would like to break your neck, but riding in on your belly is always fun!  We took the board out and just floated on it.  It was fun trying to keep our balance and not flip the board over.  We both kept trying to sit on it, but since its a short board it could barely hold our weight together.  Beautiful morning in Hawaii

I know, its exhausting to hang out with Anna Banana, or so I've been told.

So at about 2:00 we finally got some food at the concession stand place, delicious burgers.  Then we went back to base to get his camping stuff out of storage.  Holy shit.  He opened his storage locker and it was packed, front to back, with more stuff than I have ever owned in my life!  I was super over whelmed and was speechless for a while.  How could you have that much stuff and only be 23! yikes!  I wont get into any back history, but lets just say, I wont have that much stuff til I'm 60 and retired....   We went to another beach on base and just walked the shoreline while the sun was beginning to set.  The tide was coming in, so I got pounded by a few huge waves.  I was wearing my normal clothes, but as you all know I didn't care and just continued to get wet.  We played the game "see who's feet go deeper in the sand as the waves rush over them" I won of course because I cheated and dug my toes in.  I'm also a known cheater.  The sun went down so we went back to watch Super Troopers and Super Bad.  After pizza and popcorn I was exhausted.  What a great Christmas this year :)

Mele Kalikimaka

Sing to meeeeeeeeee I no joke sang this all day yesterday on repeat, even at the beach

Well its here, and I am tucked in bed at 5 a.m. waiting for my family to skype with me from the mainland.  Mary made coffee, but now its time to skype.  I was going to try and post all day to update about our Christmas adventures, but that didn't happen.

This is what our skype convo looked like.  It started with Andrew up close and Alec in the chair, but soon Andrew went and got the sofa chair so he could relax and Alec found his blanket from a very ex girlfriend that he still wraps up in.
Mom was modeling the tree for us.

Mom showed off her dance moves all morning.

In fact, Mom didn't sit down all morning and was so giddy and excited for us to open our gifts and regifts that I think she lost at least five pounds.  There were dance moves, and twirling thumbs, and standing on one foot in excitement.
My gift to Andrew.  Notice mom trying to sit on her hand so she wont jump up and open the gift for him
He freakin loved my gift!  Slow cooker with timer.  Too bad Arin and I totally failed and got him the exact same gift.....

 Mom's hug for Mary
Its protocal to give hugs, even if it is via skype!
Andrew and Alec's sweet lazy hug

So that was my Christmas morning.  Walked out of there with a bad ass camera case that dually functions as a fanny pack, a flare bottle so I can start throwing my drinks around, and a book on etiquette so I can learn how to be a real woman!  boom
